THE ONE DAY AFIKPO LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA PRAYER SUMMIT Held On Tuesday, 17 February 2026, At The Assemblies Of God Church, Ukpa/Amaechara, Afikpo Was A Great Success!
The PRAYER SUMMIT Which Was Convened By The Chief Of Staff To The Executive Chairman Of Afikpo Local Government Area Of Ebonyi State, Apostle Dr. Uduma Peter Agha With The Theme: PEACE MUST REIGN IN THE LAND, Was Attended By Both The Indigenous And Resident Ministers Of The Gospel From Ehugbo, Amasiri, Akpoha, Unwana And Edda.
The Programme Also Attracted The Presence Of Rt. Rev. Dr. Paul Udogu (Anglican Bishop Of Afikpo Diocese);
Rev. Joseph Ibeabuchi (District Superintendent, Assemblies Of God Church, Afikpo District);
Ven. Emmanuel Obika (Deputy Chairman, Christian Association Of Nigeria, Afikpo LGA); Apostle Nnachi Godwin Udume (Secretary, Christian Association Of Nigeria, Afikpo LGA); Pastor Jesse Okey Nweze (Chairman, Pentecostal Fellowship Of Nigeria, Afikpo Chapter); Bishop Kenneth Oko Daniels (Presiding Bishop, Gospel Friends Assembly); Pastor Anointed Isuama (Chaplain, Afikpo LGA); Rev. P. A. Nwodo (Minister-in-charge, Assemblies Of God Church, Ukpa/Amaechara), Who Charged And Led The Congregation In Intercessory Prayers For The Church, Afikpo And Edda LGAs, Ebonyi State And Nigeria In General.
In His Keynote Address, The Convener Of The Programme, Apostle Dr. Uduma Peter Agha, Expressed Profound Grievances And Condemnation Regarding The Recent Crises And Killings In Amasiri, Akpoha And Edda, Noting That The Church Has A Responsibility To Pray And Call Upon God For Forgiveness And Peace In Our Land; The Very Reason The Programme Was Organised.
He Further Urged The Pastors To Always Participate In Programmes Like This, Adding That They Should Learn To Permit And Encourage Their Members To Attend Any Christian Gathering In Afikpo, Particularly When Such Gatherings Are Organised By CAN Or Other Christian Bodies In The Land.
Apostle Uduma Briefly Hinted The Audience On Some Of The Laudable Efforts Made So Far By The Governor Of Ebonyi State, Rt.Hon Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, With The Local Government Chairmen Of Afikpo And Edda LGAs And Other Stakeholders, To Restore A Lasting Peace In The Warring Communities.
He Encouraged The Ministers To Complement The Efforts Of The Governor By Praying For Peace In Our Land.
The Chief Of Staff And Other Ministers Who Spoke At The PRAYER SUMMIT Urged All To Eschew Violence And Anything That Could Promote Conflict/Crisis, And Embrace Peace In Our Villages/Communities.
“When Conflict Arises, We Must Be The First To Extend The Olive Branch, Not To Fuel The Fire.
We Must Accept The Fact That We Have Failed In Our Responsibilities As A Church And Ministers Of The Gospel, And As Such Should Pray And Ask God To Have Mercy On Us And Revive Us!”
“We Are Now Applying ‘A Fire Brigade Approach’ In The Issue By Running Helter-skelter,
When Matters Had Already Gone Bad; Just Because We Didn’t Do What We Should Do As A Church On Time.”
The Speakers Also Maintained That All Hope Is Not Lost, God Can Still Heal Our Land If We Call Upon Him.
A Landmark Event In The Programme Was The Embracing Of Peace, Heartfelt Forgiveness & Reconciliation Prayers Offered By Pastors/Indigenes Of The Warring Communities Of Amasiri, Edda, Akpoha Who Were Present In The Programme.
In His Closing Remarks, The Coordinator Of The PRAYER SUMMIT, Rev. Dr. Naya Okoro Thanked The Attendees For Seeing The Need To Be In The Programme Despite Their Busy Schedules, As He Said The BENEDICTION
