
HOODLUMS ATTACK NOYO POLICE STATION, IKWO, BURN PATROL VEHICLE, CART AWAY RIFFLES

Noyo Police Station in Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State was on Monday night attacked by hoodlums.
According to the DPO of Noyo Police Station, Mr.Danjuma Dantata, “the hoodlums came to the Police Station on Monday night, attacked me, inflicted injuries to my men, burnt our patrol vehicle, set the police station on fire, broke the cell/armory and made away with our rifles”.
Some of the attacked police officers are now receiving medical attention in the hospital.
Meanwhile, the Executive Chairman of Ikwo Local Government Area, Elder Stephen Orogwu has paid a visit to the police station, to ascertain the level of damage done by the hoodlums.
The Chairman who was accompanied by the Coordinator of Ikwo East Development Center, Hon. Emmanuel Ekuma and his SA on Internal Security, Apostle Emmanuel Mbam, condemned the attack, and also called on Security Agencies to carry out a thorough investigation into the matter.
Elder Orogwu, however asked for the immediate transfer of all the injured Police Officers to a better and more equipped hospital, Alex Ekwueme Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki for proper Medicare and treatment, as he also promised to take care of everything spent on the treatment of the police officers.
His words: “I came because of the distress calls I received last night over the attack on Noyo Police Station.
“I have gone round the station and saw the burnt vehicle. I have seen their attempt to burn the main police building, and how they vandalized the offices.
“I have done the assessment and I will report back to His Excellency, the Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. Chief David Nweze Umahi for his quick intervention on the matter. Though I have sent him message last night concerning the attack, but I needed to be here this morning to ascertain the level of destruction.
“I condemn the bastardized act and urge the Security Agents both police, DSS and community vigilante to do their job by giving a full investigation on the matter and bring the perpetrators to book”.
The Council Chairman enjoined youths to do themselves good by queuing into State Government empowerment programs than involving themselves in all forms of criminality. He thanked the Security Agencies and Joint Community vigilantes for their prompt actions during the attack yesterday and enjoined the good people of Ikwo LGA especially Noyo Community to go back to their normal businesses as the Security Agents and community vigilantes have been strategically put in place to safeguard and protect lives and property of the people in that axis.
