Effium Indigenes of Ezza Ezekuna in Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State have petitioned President Muhammadu Buhari, protesting the invasion of their community by uniformed men suspected to be security operatives.

The alleged invasion by security agencies, AJM NEWS gathered, was a sequel to the lingering inter-tribal war between Effium and Effium Indigenes of Ezza Ezekuna extraction in Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

In the petition titled ‘Save Our Soul: A Case of Killing, Looting, Indiscriminate Arrest and Burning of Dwelling Houses By Combined Security Forces of Police and Army: A Call for Quick Intervention,’ signed by their solicitor, Sampson Ekigbo, in Abuja, on Thursday, the community expressed disappointment that overzealous operatives deployed to maintain peace in the troubled community have been ‘terrorising’ the people.

They alleged that so far, 43 houses have been burnt by the men in security uniforms. This, they claim, was in violation of their rules of engagement.

While urging the president to address the anomaly the petition read in part, “On November 5, 2021, the police invaded Nweren Ivo (home of Ezza) burnt over 15 dwelling houses amidst sporadic shooting.

“Similarly, on November 7, the combined security agents burnt not fewer than 28 dwelling houses belonging to Effium indigenes of Ezza Ezekuna Extraction.

“The most anguishing and condemnable part is the incident of November 28, 2020, when officers of the Nigeria police invaded Igbudoke Community amidst sporadic shooting, short three Effium indigenes of Ezza Ezekuna Extraction, looted their estimable properties and burnt not fewer than 38 dwelling houses without reasonable cause.

“Be informed that these unwarranted acts repeated its ugly self on November 29, 2021, at Oriuzor, Igbudoke, Omege where over 15 houses and properties worth millions of Naira were lost to the inferno at the instance of the combined security agents’ unholy acts.”

The indigenes called on the President to ensure disciplinary actions against erring security agents and any other person involved in the lingering communal war.

IPOB’S LAWYER, IFEANYI EJIOFOR CONDEMNS THE VISIT PAID TO HIS CLIENT, NNAMDI KANU BY SEN. ORJI UZOR KALU, SAYS IT VIOLATES COURT ORDERS

IPOB’S LAWYER, IFEANYI EJIOFOR CONDEMNS THE VISIT PAID TO HIS CLIENT, NNAMDI KANU BY SEN. ORJI UZOR KALU, SAYS IT VIOLATES COURT ORDERS

Orji Kalu And Nnamdi Kanu

{…It is of serious concern that the visit was conducted without strict adherence to the court-ordered guideline~ BARR. EJIOFOR }

AJM NEWS

Ifeanyi Ejiofor, lawyer to the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, on Tuesday, protested the visit of a former governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu, to the IPOB leader in the custody of the Department of State Services, saying the visit violated court orders.

Ejiofor raised the objections in a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday titled, ‘Update on our visit to our noble client, Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu at the DSS Headquarters Abuja on November 29 2021.’

Ejiofor said Kalu told the legal team that he was coming to visit Kanu in detention but visited him earlier alone aided by the DSS.

Ejiofor said, “We can at best describe what transpired yesterday (Monday) between a visitor whom the detaining authority ostensibly aided to violate the court-ordered guideline for visiting our client as bizarre and unusual.

“The DSS is not oblivious of the terms of the Court’s guideline which they have consistently maintained in the past that it must be obeyed to the letter, and through which position they had denied many friends and Attorneys of our client, access to him.

“However, caution was thrown to the wind yesterday and instead of insisting on this full compliance with the existing guideline, the DSS for reasons best known to them allowed a visitor access to our client even before the time scheduled for the formal visit and without his lawyers being present during the visit.

“It is of serious concern that the visit was conducted without strict adherence to the court-ordered guideline, but more condescending that the visit later became a subject of political gimmicks. If we, our Client’s Attorneys, his flesh and blood brothers, and his wife will visit him in due compliance with the court-ordered guideline, how can the DSS authorize a visit from any other person in gross violation of this guideline?

“There is more to it than meets the eyes, which the DSS is now under a compelling duty to explain to us. Granted that his name appeared among the list submitted at the 11th hour alongside the names of the lawyers scheduled for the visit, but hurriedly proceeding to conduct the visit without us being present in line with the requirement of the guideline left us with many unanswered questions.

“We have initiated a formal process towards ensuring a thorough investigation of what transpired, and we shall not hesitate to formally address the world on this subject if there is any attempt to sweep our petition under the carpet.”

He added, “We may not wish to speak further on this subject or even discuss our client’s position on this visit pending the outcome of investigation on the DSS authorized violation of the court-ordered guideline.

“In as much as we have unequivocally demanded an immediate investigation, we are not by any means insinuating that visitors of our client’s choice are not permitted or restrained from visiting him henceforth, but our position is that every visit to our client must conform with the already set out guideline by the Court.

“We shall keep you all updated as we navigate through this turbulent path, but just note that victory and nothing less than victory is our goal, and it shall surely end in victory.”

EBONYI DRIVER BITES OFF TASKFORCE MEMBER’S FINGER, SWALLOWS IT IMMEDIATELY AT ABAKALIKI

EBONYI DRIVER BITES OFF TASKFORCE MEMBER’S FINGER, SWALLOWS IT IMMEDIATELY AT ABAKALIKI

TASKFORCE Member

A commercial driver, on Tuesday, bit off the finger of a taskforce member in Ebonyi State to escape arrest.

The driver also swallowed the finger of the taskforce member identified as Iboko Kenneth.

The incident occurred at the Onuebonyi Junction in the Abakaliki metropolis, when the Ministry of Capital City Development and the taskforce team were on an inspection tour within the state capital to stop illegal parking and loading.

Recall that commercial transport companies operating in the state had penultimate week relocated to Akubaraoha Central park, a new park provided for them by the state government.

The driver, it was further learnt, was among those spotted at the Onuebonyi Junction who engaged in illegal loading of passengers. When the taskforce attempted to arrest him, he was said to have bitten off the finger of one of them.

The victim has, however, been taken to the emergency unit of the Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki.

Speaking with journalists in Abakaliki, on Tuesday, the Commissioner for Capital City Development, Chief Onyekachi Nwebonyi, described the incident as terrible, unexpected and barbaric.

He said, “It is very unfortunate that a driver can attack a law officer who is trying to organise the state to the point of chopping off his finger. This is terrible, unexpected and barbaric.

“So, I want to plead with the motorists not to pull our legs because the taskforce are not weak and we do our job within the confines of the law, but for a driver to chop-off a taskforce finger is unacceptable and I assure you that we will get to the root of the matter, it will not happen again.

“We are not using force but the problem is that our people are stubborn particularly the motorists, some of them anyway. I want to commend some of the transport companies for their cooperation so far that led to the peaceful relocation of the parks within the city to the central park known as Akubaraoha Abakaliki Central Park. If you go there now, the park is very peaceful, businesses are going on, no complain.

“As the government, we are doing our best to fence the place and put internal roads and other social amenities.

“But we have discovered with dismay that some drivers are bent on operating from the streets instead of doing the needful and by joining their colleagues at the central park.

“My encounter with them this morning is evidence to that assertion. Along waterworks road, behind the police checkpoints there, we saw over 10 buses loading Enugu and Onitsha.

“We also took a patrol to Onuebonyi Junction where we saw 11 trucks, buses, and Sienna buses loading there not minding our repeated warnings to that effect.”

It was gathered that the taskforce arrested five drivers for illegal loading.

According to the Commissioner, the arrested drivers would be arraigned in court.

SACK AND IMPRISON LAI MOHAMMED NOW FOR DENYING LEKKI KILLINGS, HURIWA URGES BUHARI

Lai Mohammed

AJM NEWS

The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) has called on President Mohammadu Buhari to fire and imprison Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed for rejecting the findings of the Lagos State judicial panel of inquiry into the Lekki Tollgate atrocity.

HURIWA said in a statement issued on Tuesday, November 16 in Abuja by its National Coordinator, Emmanuel Onwubiko, that the demand was made in response to the panel’s findings and judgement, which stated that there was indeed a massacre that resulted in the deaths of dozens of protestors.

The Nigerian army and police were accused of participation in the killing of demonstrators at the Lekki Tollgate in 2020, according to HURIWA.

Previously, the concerned minister said at a news conference in Abuja that there was no proof that any protester was slain on October 20, 2020, at the Lekki Tollgate.

The organisation urged the president to order Mohammed’s arrest and prosecution for committing a cruel crime akin to Adolf Hitler’s denial of the Holocaust of six million Jewish people, punishable by almost half a century in prison.

The rights organisation praised the members and chairwoman of the panel of inquiry into the #EndSARS report for their bravery and encouraged the president not to sweep the security services’ criminality under the rug.

OLEGHE’S FAMILY PLANS TO DRAG CUBANA TO COURT OVER THE DEATH OF THEIR DAUGHTER, SUSAN

Susan Oleghe

AJM NEWS

The family of Susan Oleghe, the young lady that was electrocuted on Saturday at the popular Hustle and Bustle Nightclub, Abuja owned by Mr. Obinna Iyiegbu (Obi Cubana), has vowed to drag Cubana and the management of the club to court.

According to the family, they are making necessary arrangements to meet the owners and management of the club in court to claim damages for criminal negligence, which led to the untimely death of their daughter, Susan.

The family said:
“We won’t be leaving any stone unturned as we plan to face the management of the nightclub with every legal option available”.

Susan was said to have accidentally touched a metal door, as glimpsed from a replay of the club’s CCTV, and was instantly electrocuted.

A family member revealed that Susan and her colleagues were about leaving the club when she tripped by a floor that doesn’t look well laid. She then fell on a metal rod which has high voltage wires for lightnings and covered with metal for aesthetics, and she was electrocuted.

The family also maintained that the deceased was neither tipsy nor drunk.

“Even if she was tipsy and fell inside the club, was she supposed to get electrocuted?”, the family asked.

Oleghe’s family further stated that the club’s management were not bothered by the incident at first, as they were already putting up a billboard for a party they planned to host.

It was not until security personnel arrived the club premises and shut it down before they acknowledged the magnitude of the problem.

The late Susan was the CEO of Korporate_Legz, selling online an assortment of footwears, from sandals to designer shoes to men and women, who could afford her prices.

Meanwhile, the management of Hustle and Bustle had annouced the closure of the club till further notice, following the death of Susan.

The club wrote on their Instagram handle:
“We are closed till further notice. This is due to the loss of our esteemed client.

“We are deeply saddened by this situation and need time to heal from it. Our prayers are with the families of the lost soul. May her soul Rest In Peace.

“We sympathise with the family on this unbearable loss.

“Kindly bear with us as we pass through this storm.”

IF YOU DON’T HAVE PVC, NO COMMUNION FOR YOU, ANGLICAN BISHOP WARNS MEMBERS

IF YOU DON’T HAVE PVC, NO COMMUNION FOR YOU, ANGLICAN BISHOP WARNS MEMBERS

PVC And Communion

{….Every Preacher In Delta State Should Henceforth, Make It Mandatory For Their Members To Have The PVC Before They Could Participate In Holy Communion~ Bishop Mogekwu }

AJM NEWS

The Anglican Bishop of Asaba Diocese, Rt. Rev. Justus Mogekwu, has canvassed the acquisition of Permanent Voter Card as a precondition for church members before they could participate in Holy Communion in the state.

While urging Deltans to ensure they register to vote at elections so as to enthrone good governance, the Bishop expressed the view that every preacher in Delta State should henceforth, make it mandatory for their members to have the PVC before they could participate in Holy Communion.

The Bishop gave the exhortation in a sermon on Sunday on the occasion of the Christian Community Platform prayer conference, held at the Great Anointing Favour Bible Church International Incorporated, Effurun, Delta State.

According to him, Christians must actively get involved in politics to enthrone good governance at all levels.

Bishop Mogekwu maintained that “if men who are righteous and fear God are in power, the people rejoice”.

To this end, he charged the people of Delta State to make sure that at all levels of governance, men who fear God are in authorities.

Speaking in the same vein at the event, the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria and coordinator of the CCP in the Patani Local Government Area of Delta State, Very Reverend Fr. Kofa Ithanasius, of St. Benedict Catholic Church Patani, insisted that “it is a sin not to register to vote”.

He explained that children of God should not murmur and complain when men who do not have the fear of God are in power when they, on their own, refused to be involved in politics.

He said, “Pastors should ensure their members get their PVC before they take their Communion and do other worship services in the household of God. As Communion is important to us as Christians, which makes us healthy, spirit-filled, and to be very strong, it is such with the PVC which makes us enthrone good governance at any level”.

He prayed for the spirit of God to continue to direct the affairs of the state, all children of God across the state to be committed to the things of the spirit and as well make the right decisions while choosing their leaders.
