A non-governmental organization, THE KEL ELEJE FOUNDATION (KEF) has put smiles on the faces of 20 indigent women in Ozizza Community, Afikpo North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, by giving financial assistance to them.
THE KEL ELEJE FOUNDATION is an international NGO whose aim is to lift and assist widows and indigent women who have existing businesses and also startups in Ozizza community and beyond, to improve their business so as to ameliorate their living conditions.
Inline with its vision, the FOUNDATION, which is also a non-profit making organization gave the sum of Fifty Thousand Naira (N50,000) to each of the 20 women drawn from Ozizza and beyond, as a way of empowering them in the various businesses.
The beneficiaries who could not hold their joy, lauded The KEL ELEJE FOUNDATION for the kind gesture shown to them, as they also promised to make judicious use of the money.
As if that wasn’t enough, The KEL ELEJE FOUNDATION which has B. Kel Eleje as the Executive Director and Chief (Arc) Edward Eleje as the Director of international operations, has also gone a step further to award immediate scholarships to 20 students of Ozizza community.
AJM NEWS gathered that the 20 benefitting students picked by the NGO, who are within the classes of JSS1 to JSS3, are those whose parents or guardians have difficulty in paying their tuition.
They are to enjoy the foundation’s scholarship programme up to graduation from SSS3.

COMMUNIQUÉ ISSUED BY THE AMALGAMATED NGBOEJEOGU YOUTH (ANY) ON THE GRUESOME ATTACK ON UMUOGUDU AKPU PEOPLE OF NGBO BY MARAUDING FULANI HERDSMEN ON 12TH APRIL, 2021.
PREAMBLE
Arising from an emergency meeting after an on-the-spot assessment of the dastardly, unprovoked, senseless and deadly massacre in Umuogudu Akpu autonomous Community of Ngbo nation yesterday, which claimed many lives, left many wounded and scores of houses and other property burnt and utterly destroyed; the Amalgamated Ngboejeogu Youth wishes to state the following:
That the Fulani herdsmen numbering over one hundred, armed to the teeth with most sophisticated weapons at the early hours of Monday 12th April, 2021 invaded, maimed and unleashed an unimaginable terror on the people of Ngboejeogu from the Umugadu Umuogudu Akpu axis.
That the gruesome attacks led to the horrific deaths of so many known citizens of Ngboejeogu.
That whereas search is still being conducted in the affected areas to ascertain the level of damage and deaths recorded, over twelve (12) lacerated lifeless bodies have been recovered while the whereabouts of many persons are still unknown.
That over fifty six (56) houses, yam bans, business places/shops were either burnt to ashes or utterly destroyed by the Fulani attackers.
That the attacks mostly affected four villages in Umuogudu Akpu Community axis of Ngbo clan namely: Ebele Umugadu, Otuebu Umugadu, Ndiegu Ibe-Agba and Odebo.
That the Fulanis were visibly sighted and heard by many survivors.
That the language they spoke was no other than fulfulde, the Fulani known language and their looks (appearances) and modus operandi were still same with that of Fulanis.
That phone calls made to the mobile phones belonging to some of the slain victims were received by the attackers who spoke fulfulde language with heavy Fulani accent.
That we condemn in strong terms the barbaric acts of the heartless Fulani attackers.
That while we acknowledge the presence of security Agencies who came to intervene on the ugly situation, we frown at any attempt by any individual, group or government to twist the story to serve any political and or economic interests.
That we find it difficult to comprehend the interest it serves and the reason behind the hasty conclusion of the Ebonyi State Government in exonerating the Fulani herdsmen from perpetrating the brutality.
If mere denial of involvement is enough criterion to determine who was involved in the horrendous act and who was not as postulated by the Ebonyi State Government via their Press Release on the 12th of April, 2021, we wish to ask, now that the Ado Local Government Area Chairman of Benue State has debunked the allegation of their involvement in the attack, can the Ebonyi State Government tell the world who attacked Ndu Ngbo on the 12th of April, 2021?
That the hasty Press Release by the Ebonyi State Government with its unverified facts is nothing short of taking side with the Fulani attackers against Ngboejeogu clan.
That we were shocked that unlike the prompt action of government which included visitation, provision of relief materials, encouragement and consolation of affected persons before press statement in the case of Egedegede of Ishielu Local Government Area where the Fulanis also attacked recently, the State Government did not care to send any of its officials even if it’s a Technical Assistant, to visit the scene of the attacks in Ngbo, make an on-the-spot assessment of the terror before going to the press. We then ask, where, when and how did the government conduct the said investigation that led to the preliminary report and conclusion?
That we are worried that the Press Release by the Ebonyi State Government was more interested in exonerating the Fulanis from any involvement in the horrendous attacks than painting the exact picture of what happened. Hence no mention was made of the many casualties recorded and multi million naira worth of property destroyed.
That we recall vividly that upon receipt of security report late last year 2020 that the Fulani herdsmen were planning to attack selected Ebonyi Communities with Ohaukwu prominently mentioned, the State Governor on or about the 20th of September, 2020 called for an enlarged security meeting with all the Service Chiefs, Traditional Rulers and other critical stakeholders in attendance. The meeting was replicated at the Local Government level with Ohaukwu holding theirs on the 21st and 22nd of September, 2020 consecutively.
We wish to ask, what was/were the action plans of the meetings? How were the plans implemented? Was the assurance of ”no further attacks on Ndi Ebonyi” by the Fulani herdsmen given before those meetings or after the meetings? If before the meetings, why was the government apprehensive over the threat and if after, did it come before the Egedegede mayhem or after?
Granted that for the Fulanis to attack Ngbo from Agila axis is suggestive of connivance of the duo which should be subject to investigation, but the Ebonyi State Government’s hasty conclusion in its defense of the enemy is quite unfortunate and unacceptable. As law abiding people, we don’t intend to cause more tension or escalate issues from Agila axis but such suspected connivance should be thoroughly investigated before reaching a conclusion.
We condemn in strong terms such government Press Release which tends to protect the Fulani herdsmen at the expense of its citizenry.
We therefore pray the State Government to shun sentiment and wake up to its statutory responsibility of protecting lives and property of Ngbo nation and other citizenry. We equally appeal to good spirited individuals and corporate bodies to come to the aid of Ndu Ngbo particularly the affected areas of Umuogudu Akpu as they have lost all they have to the blood sucking Fulani marauders.

The leadership of the Indigenous People Of Biafra, IPOB, has passed a stern warning to all those whose intention is to join the newly announced security outfit for the Southeast zone, code-named Ebubeagu, in order to spy on the activities of IPOB’s Eastern Security Network, ESN, to desist from such, or be prepared to meet their late ancestors beneath the earth.
The spokesperson of the group, Comrade Emma Powerful passed this warning through a Communique signed by him and made available to newsmen on Tuesday.
His words: “We warn our youths to have nothing to do with the so-called Ebubeagu security outfit which was ostensibly formed to sabotage IPOB and ESN. Anyone who neglects this warning and thinks he can hide under the cloak of EBUBEAGU to spy on ESN should be prepared to join his ancestors”.
Comrade Emma Powerful, however noted that any other security outfit formed by the ‘puppet governors’ in the Southeast would crash because the Eastern Security Network is already on ground, as he described the decision of the governors to form another security outfit outside ESN as a mockery and a quest to please their Fulani slavemasters.
The IPOB spokesperson added: “Biafrans will not be deceived by this purported EBUBEAGU security outfit which is a huge joke. South East governors set up the outfit probably to fulfill all righteousness or to spy on ESN to curry favour from their Fulani slavemasters”.

It has come to the attention of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) under the command and leadership of our great leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu that South East Governors have shamefully and belatedly announced the formation of an abstract security outfit called Ebubeagu to secure the zone from Fulani terrorists herdsmen they allotted our ancestral lands to.
What a mockery the puppets have made of themselves in their usual quest to please their slavemasters! How can you launch a security outfit without first assembling the personnel and equipping them? When Amotekun was formed it was not abstract, the personnel and their equipment were handy. When our leader floated the gallant Eastern Security Network, ESN, the men were on ground. How then did South East traitors called Governors announce a security outfit without any personnel or were they under any pressure to hurriedly make the announcement after years of foot-draging and deceit?
However, whether or not they were under any influence, we want to remind these bunch of caliphate slaves that there is no need for them to form another security outfit in our land since we have our formidable ESN. They woke up from their slumber rather too late. We have gone beyond that stage unless they are on a mission to sabotage ESN.
Any other security outfit formed in South East will crash because ESN is already on ground and living up to expectations. ESN was floated based on the clamour by our people, and they have since thrown their support behind the outfit. Forming another regional security outfit is suspicious, and a needless waste. The governors failed our people when they needed their protection. It’s already late

The Governing Council of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) has announced Professor Nnenna Oti as the 8th substantive Vice Chancellor of the institution.
Her selection follows a thorough screening of 7 candidates listed for the position.
Briefing newsmen shortly after the selection of the new VC, Chairman Governing Council of FUTO, Professor John Offem said 29 applicants indicated their interest while 7 seven were finally shortlisted.
According to Offem, the new VC scored 75.5 ahead of her closest rival, Professor Ikechukwu Dozie who scored 69.7.
BIOGRAPHY
Prof. (Mrs) Nnenna Nnannaya Oti is a Professor of Soil Science and Environmental Conservation and currently on her second tenure as Dean of Post-Graduate School. She is a three-time Head of Department of Soil Science and Technology in the School of Agricultural and Agriculture Technology (SAAT) and the immediate past chairman, Gender Policy Unit.
She holds a Bachelor of Agriculture degree (B.Agric) in Soil Science from the University of Nigeria Nsukka, UNN; (First Class Honours), Masters in Soil Science (Soil Biology and Biochemistry Option), UNN; a Postgraduate Diploma in Irrigation Engineering (Distinction) from Katholic University Leuven, Belgium and capped her academic laurels with a PhD in Soil and Environmental Conservation from FUTO.
Prof. Oti has over 34years experience in academics, teaching research and administration in the Nigerian university system with international exposure. She has had hands-on experience working as a consultant to government and private sector and various times in diverse capacities ranging from TETFund, Anambra Imo River Basin Development Authority, National Biotechnology Development Agency etc. She has over 65 academic papers, 40 seminar and workshop papers, edited a handbook, 50 public lectures and over 10 technical reports for the Federal government of Nigeria.
Born on the November 15th, 1958 in Afikpo North Ebonyi State, she is married to Dr Nnannaya Oti and blessed with 3 children.

Ohanaeze Youth Council(OYC), the apex youth wing of Ohanaeze Ndigbo ably led Comrade Igboayaka O. Igboayaka has expressed shock over the quick reaction immediate past Inspector General of Police, IGP Adamu over the jail break of Owerri Correctional Center which took place on Easter Monday.
Reacting over the incident in Owerri, the National President of Ohanaeze Youth Council, Comrade Igboayaka described the former IGP’s allegation as very childish and unprofessional, stressing that the hatred of the Nigerian government and Fulani political cartel against Igbo stirred his accusation on IPOB as perpetrators of the unfortunate incident.
Igboayaka warned former IGP to cease from threatening Ndigbo, reminding him that 100 per cent of Ndigbo by event of Nigerian political history are indigenous people of Biafra. He urged former IGP Adamu to be very careful not to aggravate the already heated tension in Nigeria with his hate allegation against Ndigbo as regards the jail break.
He noted that with over 4 hours operation of the gunmen without any reasonable intervention indicated that either the former IGP Adamu have hand in the incident or he is not qualified to handle such sensitive security position.

Continuing, he said: “It is shocking that the former IGP visited Imo state, but has been kept mute on the killing of innocent citizens by his Fulani kinsmen who slaughtered over 35 people at Ishielu in Ebonyi state.
“From all indications, the Nigerian government and the security chiefs are part of the conspirators of recent insecurity in Nigeria which includes Banditry, Kidnapping, Boko Haram terrorism, Fulani herdsmen killings and the activities of unknown gunmen.
“It is unbelievable that within 48 hrs IGP Adamu and Vice President Yemi Osibanjo could hastily visit Owerri Correctional Center and the State Police Command where only two victims was recorded with some destruction of cars, only to make a new proposal for replacement of things destroyed during the incident. Hence, he saw it as an avenue to make dubious proposal to loot state treasury. Yet over 35 innocent Igbos were massacred in Ebony state since 5 days ago, the IGP could not step in to see the level of evil his kinsmen committed. It is now obvious that the lives of Ndigbo means nothing to the former IGP and the Nigerian Government. IGP Adamu and Nigeria have demonstrated high level of wickedness, insensitivity and lack of empathy to Ebonyi massacre.
“I therefore call on the National Assembly to summon former IGP Adamu for questioning and order for his immediate arrest for jeopardizing the security of Nigeria with high recklessness.
“This government is joking with the lives and properties of Nigerians. When Boko Haram terrorists said they shot down the Airforce jet, the NAF said they lied, FUNAM claimed responsibility of the attempted assassination of Gov. Samuel Ortom, IGP kept quiet. On the midnight of Sunday, April 4, 2021, gunmen besieged and attacked the Owerri Correctional Prison in the Imo State capital and released over 1800 prisoners.
On breaking into the prison facility with the aid of explosives and dynamite, the gunmen told the prisoners, “Go home, Jesus has risen. You have no reason to be here.”
The gunmen who operated from 1am till 3am, also targeted the Imo State Police Command headquarters situated in Owerri and set it on fire, razing down almost all the vehicles parked at the command headquarters.
The gunmen also freed the suspects in almost all the cells at the State Criminal Investigation Department of the command headquarters in the capital city of Owerri.
AJM NEWS gathered that on arrival, the gunmen sang solidarity songs at the Government House Roundabout for about 30 minutes before launching their attacks.
When contacted, the police spokesperson in the state, Orlando Ikeokwu, confirmed the attacks.
He, however, assured the people of the state that the security agencies were on top of the matter.
In a similar development, some group of armed men on Monday morning attacked police and military checkpoints and road blocks situated in Owerri, setting both the police vans and military trucks on fire.

The Chairman of Afikpo North Local Government Area, Hon. Barr. Obiageri Oko Enyim has thrown more light on the cause of the fracas in their family, particularly between her and the elder brother, Hon. Ogbonnia Oko Enyim, as regards the burial arrangements for their late father.
Barr. Obiageri accused her elder brother and the immediate past chairman of the council, Hon. Ogbonnia Oko Enyim of deliberately frustrating every move and plan the family is making to bury their father this year, 2021.
According to Hon. Obiageri Enyim, their father, OMEZUE Simon Oko Enyim died since the 25th of February, 2020, over a year now, and must be buried between April and May 18, 2021, else he would not be buried again this very year as custom demands.
Hon. Obiageri Enyim further stated that her brother, Oko Enyim, instead of saying the truth how he has been frustrating the burial arrangements, had resorted to playing to the gallery by blackmailing the state governor, Dave Umahi, and alleging that he is interfering in their family matter.
Her Words: “I have desisted from joining words with my brother, Chief Ogbonnia Oko Enyim, with regards to the burial of our late father. His dragging the Governor into our family issues is nothing but cheap blackmail as the governor has never meddled in our family affairs, let alone stopping the former chairman from burying our father.
“The truth is that Oko Enyim has been doing everything possible to make sure that our father is not buried since he died on Tuesday, 25th February, 2020, more than a year now. He doesn’t even know the mortuary where our late father’s corpse was deposited, let alone involving people in the burial arrangements.
“Instead, he has been frustrating every move we are making as a family to bury our father. As the first son of the family, Oko Enyim has never set his foot in the family house to inquire about the corpse of his father or burial plans. Bear in mind that our father died while he was still the council chairman, but he didn’t give a hoot.
“Instead, what he has been doing is to report me and our family to different people, especially Amasiri elders, and refusing different dates for the burial of our father. In fact, he recently declared that the burial will be in November this year.
“My father was a titled man and there is a specific period of the year that he is supposed to be buried. In fact, you don’t bury a titled man of my father’s status during the rainy season, according to our tradition, as he was an Omezue.
“However, instead of telling people the truth of how he has been frustrating the moves of our extended family, Oko Enyim decided to play to the gallery by blackmailing Governor Umahi and alleging that he is interfering in our family. Who does that?”
She added: “I didn’t collect anybody’s birth right and I am not thinking of doing that because I am a custodian of culture and tradition. I am Ogbueku Nwanyi. I am not even renovating my father’s house in order to get a room there. I have so many places to live.
“It is in the public domain that he didn’t care for our father until his death. He died under a leaking roof. I am the one renovating the house now. When our father died in a hospital, out of respect for him as the first son and as a custodian of culture, I called Oko Enyim to tell me where I should deposit his corpse, even against our father’s wish as he had instructed that Oko Enyim should not participate in his burial.
“On Thursday, 27th February, 2020, I went to Oko Enyim’s house to talk about burial plans, but he ignored me. What he did was to tell people to tell me to give him the receipt for the mortuary. People should ask him the mortuary his father’s corpse is. He has been pasting posters without a mortuary address.
“The summary of the whole thing is that the family is begging him to come to the family house or even invite us to his own house for us to agree on how we will bury our late father.
“If he has chosen a date, what are the preparations so far? What are we going to wear that day? Are we not supposed to contribute to the tribute? Are we not supposed to say anything in the burial programme? These are what we are asking of him. Nobody is dragging date or birth right with him. What we are asking is for the proper thing to be done.
“In Ehugbo culture and in a polygamous house, every house must be present or represented in discussing burial plans. Our first daughter is in the UK. She took care of our father while Oko Enyim was neglecting the same man. Our elder sister suggested fixing the burial ending of April, but Oko Enyim refused.
“Someone should ask him whether he has come to the family house since our father died on 25th of February last year, let alone renovating it. He has not entered the house as I am speaking with you, so who is denying him of his responsibilities?
“I have severally called him and gone to his house to beg him to own up to his responsibilities. Recall that the former chairman, Hon. Ogbonnia Oko Enyim on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 resigned his appointment as SA to the Governor on School Monitoring, Afikpo North LGA, over Governor Umahi’s unwarranted interference in their family matters, especially as it concerns the burial of their late father, as he also alleged that the governor is taking sides with Obiageri his younger sister, to prevent him from taking his proper roles in the family as the first son in the planning of his late father’s burial.

The immediate past Chairman of Afikpo North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, on Tuesday, March 30 joined the league of those that had parted ways with Governor Dave Umahi’s government, by also resigning his appointment as SA to the Governor on School Monitoring, Afikpo North LGA.
According to a resignation letter addressed to Gov. Umahi and made available to newsmen, Hon. Oko Enyim accused the governor of interfering in his family matters, particularly as it concerns the burial arrangements for his late father.
Hon. Enyim clearly stated that the governor’s disposition towards him of late, had made him realize that he no longer have a place in Umahi’s government, adding that Umahi’s preference of her younger sister, Barr. Obiageri Oko Enyim, who is also the current council Chairman, Afikpo North LGA, had forced him take the decision to resign his appointment, in order to prevent unnecessary rancour and acrimony.
His Words: “Your Excellency, Sir, your current dispositions towards me has made me to realise that l have no place any longer in your government.
“Your Excellency, your preference to my younger sister to me for reasons best known to you have compelled me to take this decision in order to avoid rancour and acrimony.”
The Ex-chairman bitterly noted that contrary to the tradition of the land, the governor’s interference and decision had denied him his right as the first son to organize a befitting burial for his father, having spent so much money in the planning, as he maintained that he would never accept such decision.
He said: “Your Excellency, against every known traditions and good conscience, your decision to interfere and deny me my right as the first son to organise a befitting burial for my father in line with my already concluded arrangements, after spending fortunes is not acceptable.
“I hereby resign my appointment as SA under your administration with immediate effect. Kindly accept the assurances of my warmest regards”.

The Indigenous People of Biafra has said Nigerian Army and police did not kill any operative of the Eastern Security Network in Abia State. IPOB asked the Nigerian security agents to publish the exact camp of the ESN it attacked and show videos and photos of their operations. The group, through its media and publicity secretary, Emma Powerful told newsmen on Wednesday that the military source who said they had killed ESN on Tuesday were lying. Powerful said the nation’s security agents are only killing innocent citizens, claiming they are members of the ESN A military source had earlier reported that hundreds of security operatives on Tuesday night launched a heavy attack on the camp of ESN in Aba, Abia state, killing about 16 of them and injuring others.
It was gathered that the operation was in response to a series of attacks against security personnel in the South-East.
“The Nigerian military in conjunction with Police under the unit of Rapid Response Squad and Counter Terrorist Unit gave a fatal blow to the Eastern Security Network camp under the IPOB in Aba.
“Yesterday night, about 16 ESN were killed in the joint operations. This was a response to a series of attacks against security personnel in South-East,” the source had said.
While reacting, the IPOB spokesman, Emma Powerful said, “Ask the army and police to show pictures or videos of those ESN operatives they killed. Army, police, air force, including all the other security outfits in Nigeria cannot do ESN anything, not when they killed innocent citizens and they tagged them ESN operatives.
“Ask the soldiers to disclose where ESN camp is located and how it looks like. Don’t mind the army propaganda machine because we know them before they come, they can’t deceive us. ESN is rooted and Nigerian security agencies cannot come across them.
“ESN is out to defend and protect our land and forest; nothing they can do to stop us. Let them come; we are waiting for them. Let them show the bodies of those they claimed to have killed. Nigerian soldiers should stop lying to the public.”
Meanwhile, scores of security operatives in the Southeast had been gunned down at their duty posts by Unknown Gunmen (UGM).
POLICE ARREST THREE HUNTERS FOR ALLEGED KILLING, BURNING OF FULANI HUTS IN OYO

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested three local hunters in connection with the murder of three people and the burning of Fulani huts on March 14. The arrested hunters were identified as Karimu Yusuf, Isaac Isaiah and Sunday Isaac. They were alleged to have stormed the Fulani huts to retaliate for the killing of a farmer on March 12. The farmer was reportedly attacked by Fulani robbers, who still killed him after his wife was able to give them N25,000. The following day, March 13, another man escaped death by the whiskers, as he was also attacked by suspected Fulani herders, sustaining injuries. The state police spokesman, Olugbenga Fadeyi confirmed the arrest of the three suspects. Fadeyi said the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigations.
