AMAIZU PROGRESSIVE UNION (APU) LAGOS BRANCH RESCUES AN AFIKPO WOMAN SEEN IN A VIRAL VIDEO BEGGING FOR ALMS IN LAGOS; HANDS HER OVER TO EBONYI STATE GOVERNMENT:

Sons and daughters of Amaizu, Afikpo North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, who are residing in Lagos, through their group known as Amaizu Progressive Union (APU) Lagos Branch have rescued one Mrs. Oyire Egwu Okocha, an indigene of Afikpo North LGA, who was seen in a viral video clip asking for alms in Lagos.

AJM NEWS gathered that the Amaizu Progressive Union embarked on the rescue mission when the beggar, Mrs. Oyire Egwu identified herself as an indigene of Afikpo, precisely from Amaizu as she was being interviewed in the video clip.

The APU who seriously searched for the woman in Lagos and later succeeded in getting her, arranged and brought her to Ebonyi, provided clothes for her and her children and also lodged them in a hotel in Afikpo for six days.

AJM NEWS was also rightly informed by the Coordinator of the Rescue Team of Amaizu Progressive Union, Mrs. Uzoma Agha, that the Union was planning on rehabilitating the rescued woman, Oyire Egwu before the Ebonyi State Government through the Caretaker Chairman of Afikpo North Local Government Area stepped into the matter.

Meanwhile, the APU has officially handed over the woman to Hon. Amauche Otunta, the Caretaker Chairman, Afikpo North LGA.

When AJM NEWS Correspondent spoke with the rescued woman, Mrs. Oyire Egwu; she expressed her gratitude towards the Amaizu Progressive Union, the Ebonyi State Government and the Caretaker Chairman of Afikpo North LGA, Hon. Amauche Otutnta and the general public for the kind gesture shown to her and her children.

She extended her thanks to her family and Amaizu community for the way she was honoured and welcomed.

Mrs. Egwu also said she was ready to accept any job and assistance offered to her, just to enable her meet her needs and take proper care of her three children who are with her now in Afikpo, as she also pleaded with those concerned to fulfill all the promises made to her.

Below Is The Speech Presented On Behalf Of The Amaizu Progressive Union (APU), By Mrs. Uzoma Agha, Coordinator of The Rescue Team Of Amaizu Progressive Union During The Hand Over Of Mrs. Oyire Egwu Okocha, The Lady Who Was Found Begging For Alms And Homeless In Lagos, On Tuesday, 11/08/2020.

“We have now come to the end of our own part of this Oyire saga. The Amaizu Progressive Union, Lagos Branch, under the coordination of the Chairman, Mr. Raphael Ogbonna Okpani and Mrs. Nnenna Okoronkwo, the President of the Women’s wing, together worked tirelessly to rescue Oyire Egwu Okocha from the slums of Lagos, where she was begging on the street.

“The efforts of Mr. Mike Chukwu, Mr. Dom Okoronkwo, Mr. Aloysius Agha, Mr. Eko Austin, Mr. Aloy ldam and a host of others too numerous to mention are very well appreciated. All of the members of the APU Lagos branch put heads together on how to rehabilitate the said lady. Mr. Urom Enya was sent by the Union to go and pick her up. A job he did perfectly well.

“The union was ready to ensure that the woman is properly taken care of. The Ebonyi State Government through the Chairman of Afikpo North Local Government Area came into the matter. The Chairman of Afikpo North LGA saw it as her personal duty to take care of the woman.

“APU Lagos branch have done their best. I was made the Coordinator of the team of the Rescue Mission. With the support of all concerned we did a great job. The Union accommodated her for six days in a hotel in Ehugbo. To God be the Glory she has been handed over to the representatives of the LGA who have promised to give her accommodation and a job.

“A big thank you to all APU members.

POLICE NABS ROBBERS INVOLVED IN THE BULLION VAN ROBBERY AT EZZAMGBO, EBONYI STATE, WHICH LED TO THE KILLING OF FOUR POLICEMEN AND A WELDER

The men of the Nigerian Police have arrested seven persons allegedly involved in the Bullion Van robbery that took place at Ezzamgbo Junction area in Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State on July, 29, 2020.

The robbers during the attack, gunned down four police officers and one Welder, but did not succeed in carting away the money or the Bullion Van.

Meanwhile, investigations gathered from those arrested have shown that none of the suspected dare devil robbers is from Ebonyi State.

Among the seven persons arrested so far, one is a serving military man while one is a dismissed soldier.

GOVERNOR UMAHI CONDEMNS THE KILLING OF POLICEMEN BY DARE DEVIL ROBBERS AT EZZAMGBO, CONSOLES BEREAVED FAMILY MEMBERS

The governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. Dave Umahi has condemned the attack by armed bandits on police officers escorting a Bullion Van at Ezzamgbo, Ohaukwu Local Government Area of the state, which claimed the lives of four policemen and a nearby Welder on Wednesday.

The governor expressed his sympathy towards the families of the dead servicemen and the Nigeria Police, as he also vowed that the armed bandits can never go unpunished.

His words: “It’s with great sadness that I received the news of the death of our dear servicemen who died on Wednesday while serving our dear country, escorting a Bullion Van from Enugu to Ebonyi; which the culprits will never go unpunished.

“I heartily commiserate with the family of the deceased police officers and the Nigeria Police in general, praying that God grants them the fortitude to bear this colossal loss”.

Governor Umahi further assured Ebonyians and visitors within the state that their security is guaranteed and therefore should not panic, adding that the state’s Police Command is already giving all efforts, harnessing all available intelligence to bring the culprits to book as they have tightened the boundaries against the entrance of criminal elements.

It is of note that the state government is currently embarking on the construction of a flyover at the popular Ezzamgbo Junction, where the robbery attack took place.

The purpose of the ongoing flyover construction at the junction is to end the frequent gridlock and accidents witnessed at the very junction.

The armed bandits, however used the opportunity of the ongoing construction, which has affected free vehicular movement, to carry out their attack on the Bullion Van and police escort.

It was gathered that the armed robbers trailed the Bullion Van all the way from Enugu with some of them stationed at the Ezzamgbo junction.

The criminals opened fire on the policemen when their vehicle and the Bullion Van slowed down at the junction, gunning down four of the officers, and deflated the tyres of the Bullion Van with bullets, though the driver of the Bullion Van narrowly escaped with the Van on punctured tyres.

The primary elections of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ebonyi State chapter which was conducted by the Ebonyi State Independent Electoral Commission (EBSIEC) on August 1, 2020, for the forthcoming council elections in the state has come to an end.

During the primaries, 13 candidates emerged victorious and were announced as the party’s flag bearers for chairmanship position in the August 29 local government elections in Ebonyi State.

AJM NEWS correspondent was rightly informed that out of the 13 successful candidates in the primaries, 4 were newly elected; that is for Afikpo North, Ezza South, Ikwo and Ivo Local Government Areas, while 9 former Chairmen were returned for a 2nd term.

The Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. Dave Umahi on Friday announced that he has recovered from Coronavirus, which he contracted few weeks ago.

This is coming barely three weeks, specifically on July 4th, after the governor had informed the state that he and his aides had been infected by the dreaded COVID-19 pandemic.

Governor Umahi who made the disclosure in a communique he personally signed and made available to newsmen on Friday, also stated that his daughter and three of his aides who were also infected alongside with him have equally Tested Negative for COVID-19 and have fully recovered, adding that they had been in isolation throughout the period of their infection, in line with protocols laid down by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

The governor further expressed his gratitude towards God for his healing and thanked Ebonyians for praying for his recovery and for the support they gave to him throughout the challenging period.

Prior to this announcement, AJM NEWS gathered that the governor never stopped carrying out his official duties and making appearances in the public when he deemed it necessary, during the period of his infection.

A chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Arthur Eze, has urged people in Ebonyi to re-elect the state governor, Dave Umahi, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), for his outstanding performance.
He said that the achievements recorded by Umahi’s current administration indicated that he would do more if given another chance to rule the state.
According to Eze, who was a guest of the Ebonyi State Government, Umahi has exhibited total commitment to the development of Ebonyi.
Arthur Eze said: “Umahi has been the state Chairman of PDP; he has been the Deputy Governor and when it was time for him to succeed the former Governor, Chief Martin Elechi, I met former president Goodluck Jonathan to allow Umahi to become the governor.
“I told the former President that I don’t know the former Minister for Health, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu, who was Elechi’s preferred candidate.
“I am happy that Governor Umahi has shown deep commitment for the development of Ebonyi.
“Ebonyi has been transformed overnight and new things have started coming to the state. I want Ebonyi people to vote for David Umahi in 2019.
“He has performed well and we have to appreciate him by supporting his re-election. I am convinced that with his achievements in his first tenure, he will do more in his second term”.
Eze said that the governor had not disappointed him in the provision of infrastructure and qualitative leadership since he assumed office.
He said that he stood for Umahi’s emergence in 2015 because he believed that the governor was the best candidate to succeed the former governor, Elechi.
During the visit, Eze had performed the ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of an overhead bridge at Abomege junction and reconstruction and remodelling of Margaret Umahi International Market among others.
In his remarks, Governor Umahi said that Eze had been instrumental to his achievements since he became the governor through his assistance and advice for the development of the state.
The governor described the business mogul as a “worthy son of Ndigbo’’, and said that he would remain eternally grateful to him because of his generosity to Nigerians. He prayed God to continue to keep him alive as the philanthropist celebrated his 70th birthday.
Eze is the chancellor of Ebonyi State University and holds the traditional title of “Dike Eji-eji Mba 1” conferred on him by Ebonyi state traditional rulers.
However, Chief Arthur Eze during the meeting donated the sum of N1 Billion to Governor Umahi, as his support for Umahi’s reelection campaign.

GUN BATTLE BETWEEN POLICEMEN AND ROBBERS CLAIM THE LIVES OF FOUR POLICEMEN AND ONE WELDER AT EZZAMGBO, OHAUKWU IN EBONYI STATE:

Tragedy struck on today in Ezzamgbo, Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, when a group of dare devil armed robbers at about few minutes to 4: PM, attacked a Bullion Van and some policemen escorting the Van.

AJM NEWS gathered that the robbers whose sole target was to cart away the money in the Bullion Van, or take away the Van from the security details, if possible, ended up killing four policemen, and a nearby Welder, bringing the total number of dead persons to five.

However, the driver of the Bullion Van who never lost control of the Van, succeeded in running away with the vehicle, with one front tyre of the Van deflated by bullets.

According to an eye witness, Barr. Aleke who spoke with AJM NEWS Correspondent, “the robbers came with 3 cars, attacked the officers, took away the slayed police riffles and escaped”.

He said: “It was at 3:58 pm, a Highlander Jeep parked near Watchman Charismatic along Enugu/ Abakaliki Express Way between Ezzamgbo junction and Nkwo brigde.

“When the Bullion Van was approaching, the Jeep that was parked beside the road wanted to enter the road in an open attempt to block the police escort, the police charged at the Jeep; all thought that the driver was drunk.

“Immediately the Bullion Van wanted to pass, the Jeep repeated the attempt, but could not succeed.
The other two cars, a Lexus car and one other car were parked at Emmanuel Onwe’s Filling Station at the beginning of the flyover at Ezzamgbo junction. On sighting the police escort and the van, the armed robbers opened fire at the police, the police expectedly reacted but it shocked everyone that the robbers were armed with charms that bewildered the police.

“The criminals targeted the heads of the police men and killed four, carted away three rifles, one police officer who was hit by a stray bullet, collected the riffle of one of the fallen officer and ran inside Eke Ezzamgbo Market/ Motor Park.

“With trail of blood, he later got weak as a result of loss of blood and strength following the gun shot wound.

“Also, during the shoot out, one Chinedu from Ezza who was a welder was shot to dead by the hoodlums making it five, as many ran for their lives.

“In the cause of the gun battle, one other boy from Ndiegu Onwe Ntsurakpa Ezzamgbo was also shot on his waist and was later rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Abakaliki.

“After about 10 minutes of the tragic event, a team of Police Patrol arrived the scene, but then the armed robbers had left through Umuebe Ezzamgbo road”.

Meanwhile, the dead bodies of the slain officers had been deposited at the Comprehensive Mortuary, Ngbo Court Area, Ngbo Ohaukwu local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

He strategically choose the CBN and bared his fangs on the apex bank in the most audacious and unforeseen manner. His nefarious dealings with the CBN is a story told like tales by moonlight in almost every household, offices and media houses, WhatsApp group and even amongst the most elitist in the Nigeria society. Despite the foul scented truth all up in the air, very few online media had the guts to openly call out this criminal of unimaginable proportion. No mainstream media house could do the story for fear of being dealt with until a US based Journalist took the bull by the horn and dragged Isa Funtua and his entire family into the market square and forced them to ‘dance naked’ for all to see. In a well detailed write up laden with impeccable empirical evidences, the Washington based journalist told the story of how Billionaire Isa Funtua had literally put the CBN in his pocket. He would ask the CBN for hundreds of millions of dollars at very ridiculously low rate and then take same monies to the black market and sell to Bureaus de Change at the going market rate. It was the type of FOREX ROUND-TRIPPING never seen in the history of this country. According to the journalist he and his family was so neck deep in this that they would actually dictate to even the CBN who to give forex to. Daily Mail did an investigative report of Isa Funtua’s forex round tripping and their finding were, to put it mildly, “shocking”; all the prominent BDC guys in Wuse Zone 4 Abuja who are in the business of buying and selling dollars gladly chorused his name as the man to see for the best dollar rate in Nigeria. Infact they nicknamed him “CBN Governor” on account of the volume of forex he illicitly brought their way. It was the proceeds of this forex that he procured mobile network Etisalat now known as 9 Mobile for $300m. It was also out of this proceed that he procured Keystone bank. It was also through same that his son bought two private jets at the same time. Who does that except in Nigeria through proceeds of crime that could be labelled economic sabotage in any same clime around the world. Squandamenea passes for a better word. He has bought up so many landmark properties just within the last five years that he might actually surpass Bola Tinubu as the biggest landlord in Nigeria. CBN is his LAP DOG!!!!!! Isa Funtua took dollars forcefully from the apex bank in a country where importers of goods and genuine businessmen struggle to access dollars for their businesses. Isa Funtua took such voluminous amount of dollars from CBN to lavish on private jets in a country where the Federal government couldn’t even feed the poorest citizens during months of lockdown. Isa Funtua was taking out hundreds of millions of dollars barefaced from CBN in a country where returnees from London, US and Asia during the lockdown were asked to pay for their flights and feeding expenses. Isa Funtua is the worst of ROGUES!!!!!! and I stand to be corrected.

He didn’t stop at forex round tripping! According to the US based Journalist, he forced the CBN to award his company a N30,000,000,000 contract for the construction of the CBN car park extension. You want to build a car park extension for CBN staff at the cost of N30billion!!!!!!! Please what type of cars are they going to park there? Diamond encrusted cars??? Or personal private jets of CBN staff??? How do you build a N30billion car park extension in a country that is officially the poverty capital of the world??? The entire contract violated the constitutional requirements as stipulated in the Procurement Act. Regular CBN contractors said the project was neither advertised nor bidded for, nor did CBN ask Contractors to submit an Expression Of Interest as is usually the norm. Funny thing is that if a proper check is done, his company would have been mobilized to the tune of 70% or even more.
Isa Funtua until his death can be described as one of the owners of Nigeria under this Buhari Government. This contract was so preposterous that the then Chief of Staff Abba Kyari was said to have summoned the CBN Governor immediately he got wind of the deal; to explain the madness. I guess that one felt outsmarted by Funtua.
According to the reports he couldn’t do anything to stop it, na inside the same bag all of them dey sleep. So disdainful and arrogantly confident was Isa Funtua that he went on a live TV to brag that “there wasn’t just a cabal in the presidency but that he was the cabal” and we should deal with it. In that interview he went on to drag the entire Igbo nation; he said “Igbos should first belong before clamoring to be president”. As in the Igbos are not yet ready????
Coming from a man who is not even a Nigerian is just too telling; to those of you who don’t know, Isa Funtua is from Niger Republic!!!!!.
Unfortunately we have a very broken system especially up north so even Bandits and criminal herdsmen from sub Sahara Africa can stroll into Nigeria and eventually make it to the House of Representatives, Senate, Governor, Minister and even President. Some weeks weeks ago he secured a court injunction against the US based journalist which was meant to stop the scandalous publishing of his financial heist on CBN and the further outing of his criminal financial empire. As he didn’t have any address for the journalist, he asked the court to allow him serve the journalist on Twitter. He did and went home thinking that he had tamed the young man. Unfortunately for him he was up against a determined professional, the journalist first replied that the Nigerian judicial system does not have a US valid visa and so it’s not enforceable in the US. He went ahead the next day in a very unprecedented manner and put out a world class and highly documented exposé of how the Funtuas have raped Nigeria financially and Isa Funtua was infuriated by no small means. He actually told a Senator last week that any day he catches the journalist he will so deal with him. When a man this powerful in Nigeria makes such a threat it simply means, “you will be taken off”. The Senator also passed his message to the target; four days later Isa Funtua joined his ancestors and by now should be on transit in purgatory where he will be checking to see how many of his dollars came with him. I watched his funeral yesterday as he was laid to rest and I thought aloud, “how come these psychotic individuals don’t see the bigger picture in life”. Amongst the cabal he was known and nicknamed “Maradona” on account of the fact that he is a skillful planner; he knows how best to tame the opposition, he knows how best to tame the Revolutionists; which was why he went to see Sowore in prison and arrogantly asked him to bury his idea of a better Nigeria. According to Sowore, “he was a very condescending man”. The man was the dictionary definition of Pride and unbridled arrogance even as he vehemently opposed restructuring the country. You can NEVER Rest In Peace if you killed the destiny of so many innocent Nigerians. His family can keep their loot and enjoy it on behalf of their father. Monies you can’t use to better your adopted hometown Katsina even under your watch Bandits and criminals make mince meat out of your people, a generational CURSE!!!!! We haven’t even heard half the story, the depth of Isa Funtua’s lootocratic empire will resurface in full force whenever these bunch of Shakespearean clowns are out of power.
